It’s been a long road for Britney Spears dealing with her conservatorship, 13 years to be exact. From being placed under its rule complacently for years, to fighting for her freedom and getting denied, Britney has been on a rollercoaster for over a decade.

However, the light at the end of the tunnel is beginning to shine through. While she is not quite free yet and it still may take some time, she is closer than ever before and moves in her favor are beginning to be made quicker than ever.

Jamie Spears, Britney’s father who has been in control of her conservatorship for all of this time, agreed to step down as her conservator about a month ago. We all thought this was a big step forward for Britney, but his most recent move is even more of a bombshell.

Jamie Spears is now filing for his daughter’s conservatorship to be put to an end once and for all. Jamie Spears quickly went from being in full control of his daughter’s life and finances, to now protesting her conservatorship all together.

His move may possibly have something to do with Britney’s new legal representation. Before, Britney was forced to use legal representation that was assigned to her and this representation was not helpful at all in getting her out of her conservatorship.

Her previous representation was most likely heavily influenced by her father, since she had no choice in who represented her and he did. However, when Britney was granted by a judge to be able to choose her own lawyer, her previous lawyer got the boot immediately and Britney had a new one come in.

Ever since she has gotten new legal representation, many moves have started to be made in her favor. And a sudden change of heart is coming from her father, which is odd considering he has been pushing for control over her conservatorship for 13 years. Jamie Spears no longer has Britney’s lawyers in his corner and he is beginning to feel the heat.

That’s most likely the reason he is stepping away and now attempting to look like he wants the best for Britney. But, it is too late for him to get on anyone’s good side in this matter after all that he put her through for the past 13 years.

With these recent wins for Britney, she is closer than ever to getting out of this conservatorship once and for all and the wheels are turning a lot faster than expected. But, her freedom still does hang in the balance and is not guaranteed.

The removal of Britney’s conservatorship still needs to get approved by the judge in court. In her last court hearing, it unfortunately did not all go in Britney’s favor despite her heartfelt, 20 minute long testimony. The judge denied Britney her freedom from the conservatorship, but she did grant her the right to her own representation, which overall has been a tremendous help.

So, there is possibly hope the judge will approve the removal of her conservatorship this time, especially now with the backing of her father, Jamie Spears. The judge was open to reconsidering the case last time, now we wait to see if she actually will reconsider for Britney’s sake.
