Will Smith has a new role and the trailer for his upcoming movie, King Richard, was just released. In this movie Will Smith will be playing the father of Venus and Serena Williams.
This movie is based on a real story about how the two tennis legends, Venus and Serena Williams, grew up and made it to where they are today. A big influence in their lives was their father, Richard Williams, who is being played by Will Smith.
The trailer showcased the hardships Venus and Serena went through growing up in the Compton area and often being judged by others who didn’t believe they were talented enough before even seeing what they were capable of.
Richard Williams coached and supported them and made sure they made it because he knew that the two were stars. This movie shows how Richard Williams helped pave the way for his two daughters by never taking ‘no’ for an answer and making sure they got what they deserved. Hence the title of the movie, King Richard.
Will Smith has been in his fair share of legendary films. This will be another one to add to his list as it is highly anticipated and set to be monumental.

The two sisters have won 4 gold medals and are often in the conversation of greatest of all time, in any sport. The two have undeniable talent that thankfully the world has gotten to see.
This movie shows that it’s possible that without their fathers persistence, the world may never have gotten to meet Venus and Serena. His strong willed attitude to get his daughters the recognition they deserved helped others realize their greatness that he always saw.
The movie is set to come out November 19th, 2021. The movie will be released in theaters, but can also be streamed on HBO Max. In just a few months we will be able to see Will Smith’s magic on screen as he represents two of the greatest athletes’ father who helped them make it to the top.
