Keep Your Smartphone From Ruining Your Sleep Schedule

Sleep is a pillar of health and wellness.

If you don’t get quality sleep, you’re really going to suffer for it in all kinds of ways.

In fact, along with exercise and a great diet, sleep is one of the most important fundamental cornerstones of quality human health and wellness.

With that being said, it’s also true that some of our modern-day conveniences can tend to interfere with it.

And your smartphone or mobile device may be one of these things

Listen, technology is amazing.

At this point, most humans walk around with some kind of mobile device that they can use to communicate with others, access the internet, check their email, etc.

With that being said, it’s also true that this device can really hinder your ability to get a great night’s sleep.

And in this post, you’re gonna learn three tips for how to keep that from happening.

1. Stop Looking At Your Phone Before Bed

Mobile screens emit blue light, which basically tricks our brain into thinking that it’s still daylight and time to be awake.

This can seriously hinder your ability to fall into a restful night’s sleep before bed, because your brain will still be in the ‘wired up and ready to go’ state. To solve this problem, put your phone away at least two hours before it’s time to go to bed.

Instead of checking your phone, consider reading an actual paper book to help you wind down.

This actually makes a big difference.

2. Don’t Let Social Media Stress You Out

When we constantly have access to social media, we can tend to stress out over it.

Some people even display addictive type behavior in regards to social media.

They may scroll endlessly through posts, check messages, check their status, etc.

And this can really start to interfere with everyday life.

For best results, set a specific amount of time every day for using social media.

Then, once the time is up, put the phone away and go out and experience some adventure in the real world.

This is much better for you than scrolling through social media constantly.

3. Don’t Let Your Phone Decrease Your Physical Activity

Sitting and scrolling through your phone is literally terrible for your health.

Some people say that sitting is the new smoking, indicating that sitting can cause so many potential health problems that it may as well be comparable to the dangers of smoking.

With that being said, smartphones can contribute to this.

If you pull out your phone and start scrolling through messages, videos, etc. odds are good that you’re going to be there for a while.

Whereas, instead, if you choose not to pull out your phone, you’ll likely get bored, get up, and go do something fun and entertaining.

Getting up, getting out, moving around, and spending time with other people is definitely superior to constantly using your phone and sitting down in the process.

This tip will help you to get up and get moving more—and will help to keep your eyes on the horizon instead of glued to that tiny screen.
