Britney Spears scored a big victory in court recently by being granted the permission to hire her own representation in the legal battle to end her conservatorship. While that doesn’t sound so much like a victory and more like a civil right, it actually is a huge win for Britney because she has been forced to use representation that was assigned to her for years.

Britney recently spoke in front of a judge about her abusive conservatorship and how she needed it to come to an end. Fans were heartbroken and moved by Britney’s 25 minute long statement and were convinced that the judge could not deny her after the bombshells she dropped.

However, after a shocking result when the judge denied her request to remove the conservatorship, everyone was dumbfounded. It felt like a major defeat and almost seemed as if nothing would ever change due to the fact Britney poured her heart out and the judge still said no.

The judge denied her request to end the conservatorship and remove Britney’s father as co-conservator this time she said. Although, she did approve for Britney to try again in the future and hope for a different outcome.

Even though that deal might sound somewhat promising, with Britney’s legal team that was forced upon her and her abusive father having control over everything she does, who knew if she would ever get in front of a judge again and ask for her freedom?

In her 25 minute long statement, Britney did mention she wanted to be granted the right to hire her own attorney. This comes along with the freedom to do as she pleases, which she has been denied for over a decade.

When all hope felt lost after Britney got the door slammed in her face, a light shined through the cracks of it. Britney Spears’ assigned attorney requested to resign nearly 2 weeks after Britney’s testimony.

Samuel D Ingham III, Britneys assigned lawyer on her conservatorship, came out and said he would resign from his position after Britney had found a new council to represent her. After this motion, the judge approved of Britney Spears hiring her own attorney.

This being a huge victory for Britney Spears because it gets the ball rolling on having people on her side who actually want to help her end her conservatorship. Ingham had advised Britney to not testify and give a statement to the court about her abusive 13-year conservatorship before she did it, clearly revealing his true goal is to not free her from it.

Now Britney Spears will be able to hire whoever she feels can best represent her in this case and help her break free from this conservatorship. One more step closer to get #FreeBritney to become a hashtag of the past.
