Julianne Moore Criticizes ‘Manufactured’ Beauty Produced By Instagram Filters

You won’t catch Julianne Moore using an Instagram filter. In a new interview with Refinery29, Moore, 55, lamented the lessons that social media filters teach young people.

“Kids are learning this very early…that these images are manufactured,” Moore told Refinery29 in a conversation about beauty and young people. “So in fact there’s a deeper understanding that the images that we consume daily are manufactured.”

Moore, a L’Oreal spokeswoman, thinks this practice sends the wrong message children.

“It’s important to broaden our understanding of what it is we find beautiful and why we find it beautiful.”
