Alec Baldwin Details His Drug and Alcohol Addiction in New Memoir

Alec Baldwin gets candid about his past drug and alcohol abuse in his forthcoming memoir, Nevertheless. He recently shared part of his story with George Stephanopoulos during an interview on Good Morning America.

“I got sober when I was just about to turn 27,” Baldwin, 58, said. “And those two years that I lived in that white, hot period, as a daily drug abuser, as a daily drinker … to my misery, boy, that was a tough time.”

Baldwin also described his addiction battles as fueled by “a lot of pain” and knows he was lucky to get sober when he did.

“I’m glad I got it when I did ’cause not many people get sober when they’re young,” he told Stephanopoulos.
