100-Year-Old Runner Ida Keeling Breaks Racing World Record

At the 2016 Penn Relays in Philadelphia, centenarian Ida Keeling wowed spectators by breaking the 100-meter race record, and completing a few push-ups afterward.

The 100-year-old, who didn’t begin running until age 67, competed against 80 other runners and clocked the best-ever time for a centenarian. After the race, she offered some advice to folks hoping to live as long as she has.

“Eat for nutrition, not for taste. And exercise at least once a day,” she said, adding that it’s important to “love yourself” as well.
