Rosario Dawson Opens Up About Sexual Abuse She Endured As A Child

Rosario Dawson has been a vocal proponent of the #MeToo movement to end workplace harassment and sexual misconduct, and now it’s becoming clear that the Rent star has a personal investment in ending such behavior.

“I was raped and molested as a child, so for me, the world was like that since I was a child,” Dawson, 38, revealed on the Morado Lens podcast. “So when I saw it in the workplace, it wasn’t foreign to me. It was like, well, that even happens within the family. It happens with people that are supposed to take care of you when you’re a child.”

Dawson also said she chooses not to dwell on the “trauma and sadness” of her childhood, but rather to focus on being grateful for all the positive things in her life.
